After modeling the Virginian Railway in HO scale for 12 years, in 2010 I dismantled the layout and moved to a new house. In 2017 I decided to model a narrow gauge West Virginia logging railroad in large scale using Shay and Climax geared locomotives.
At the moment, my entire "railroad" consists of 18 feet of track on a shelf. I use it to test a RailPro radio control system with a 3-truck Shay (foreground, photo below) and a 2-truck Climax behind it. Oops! The Shay is missing its stack; I'll replace it soon and take another photo.
This particular combination of scale and track gauge is known as Fn3, signifying F scale (1:20.3), narrow gauge, 3-foot rail spacing.
I'm still developing plans and testing large scale equipment and a control system. Stay tuned for progress reports!
